Technical writing is the documentation of complex technical processes for fields like software, engineering, aviation, and finance, to name a few. Technical writers convey these complex processes into easy-to-understand documents, using simplified writing. To do this, technical writers have a strong ability to quickly understand the subjects.

Many companies try to accomplish their technical writing without dedicated writers. This can result in, quite frankly, a mess. Employees writing technical documentation off the side of their desk don’t know the process, the background of technical writing. They don’t have time to do the work right, resulting in inaccurate, difficult-to-understand documents. Future document updates fall by the wayside, which can lead to catastrophic consequences, depending on the content.
